CGS Foundation

The Children’s Garden Foundation

The Children’s Garden Foundation is a private, non-profit, charitable organization, established in 1999. It is run by a board of CGS parents on behalf of all parents at CGS. Thanks to the continued support of CGS parents and their fundraising efforts, the Children’s Garden Foundation is able to fulfill its mandate “to provide facilities, equipment, furnishings, teaching aids and supplies to enhance the education of the students at CGS.”  Recent Foundation contributions include SMART Boards for Grades SK-3, 8 iPads for all grade levels, a beautiful trophy cabinet, new cubbies for the JKs and Early Starters and the freshly painted gym. Past contributions include risers for the choir, theatrical lighting for the stage, a professional sound system, outdoor hockey equipment, African drums and a fully renovated resource centre.

“Reach for the Stars” Campaign

The “Reach for the Stars” campaign is the Children’s Garden Foundation’s ongoing program of annual giving.
CGS parents have enthusiastically supported this program since it began in the spring of 1999. The campaign is run during each fiscal year to help the school realize its yearly objectives. Parents are asked to make an annual tax-deductible donation to the Foundation for each child enrolled at CGS. All donations are acknowledged with an official receipt for income tax purposes. Continued support of this campaign will help our school to maintain the excellent academic and artistic standards for which it has become known.

Foundation News 2012/13
The CGS Foundation is very pleased to welcome back returning members Wendy Arnold-List, Teresa Day and Samantha Cohen and to introduce new members, Michelle Cooke-Little and Cailey Estrin. They are looking forward to a great year of continued parent support.

2012/13 is a Gala year. This biennial event is an opportunity for the CGS parent body to raise money to target larger projects in the school. The last Gala was held on April 15, 2011 and was a huge success. The funds raised were earmarked  to enhance technology in our classrooms. The SMART Boards, robotic Lego and iPads purchased by the Foundation have been a wonderful addition to CGS classrooms. The technology continues to be well utilized and teachers are very pleased with their increased capacity to deliver curriculum. This year The Foundation will be purchasing gymnastics equipment for our physical education program as well as planning a renovation of the computer lab with the proceeds from the Gala.
