Admission & Fees

At CGS we want the application process to be stress-free and enjoyable for you and your child. Please find the answers to our most frequently asked questions regarding our application process below. If you can't find the answer to your question, please contact the Director of Admission anytime at 416 423 5017 x 43 or kscott@cgsschool.com.

When can I visit the school?

Tours are held Monday – Friday, during school hours. Please contact Kelly Scott, Director of Admission, at kscott@cgsschool.com or 416 423 5017 x 43 to book your tour today. Summer tours available.

I would like to come alone for my first visit. Is that ok?

Absolutely, we understand that choosing a school is a big decision and that parents want to get a sense of a school before introducing it to their child. If you wish to bring your child along on your first visit that’s ok too.

I would like to bring my child for a tour. What next?

The Director of Admission will arrange a time for you and your child to visit the school. Students are interviewed informally during a school tour and no entrance tests are required. Please note that additional assessment may be required if recommended by CGS staff.

I want to apply. What's next?

Applications are available online below. Please note a non-refundable, credit card payment of $100 is required to submit your application.

All applications are dated and admission is based on a first-come, first-served basis. Offers of admission cannot be made until your child has toured the school and the application and fee is received in full.

When should I apply?

We accept applications for all of our programs at anytime throughout the year. Due to our small class sizes, however, we strongly encourage applications be submitted a year in advance.

Preschool and JK registration takes place the third week of November and SK through Grade 3 registration takes place in February. Please make sure to contact the school well in advance of these times to give yourself time to book a tour and have your child come to visit before scheduled registration times. If you miss these windows, and need to make a last minute change, that's fine too. If we have space, we are happy to accommodate students at anytime, even after the school year has begun. This is a common occurrence at CGS, as families often want to give public school a chance before making the decision to go private. Sometimes parents are not willing to wait out the year before making a change. Please contact our Director of Admission at 416 423 5017 x 43 to discuss options.

When will we be notified of acceptance?

The CGS re-registration process for current CGS students is completed in November for JK students. SK through Grade 3 re-registration takes place in February. After re-registration is complete, offers of admission will be made to successful JK – Grade 3 outside applicants. For those applying to our preschool program, offers of admission will be made once the admissions process is complete. You will be notified by email or by phone.

Offers of admission are held for two weeks. If an offer of admission is not accepted at the end of this period, it will expire. If space permits, and we can guarantee your child's placement without considering returning students, we are happy to confirm admission directly following the application process.
