Art Goes Outside

The JK’s had a great time in art class this week. We explored Mother Nature’s beauty and looked for early signs of spring. We were very lucky to use Marie and Don’s backyard. We saw beautiful robins, a cardinal and even a woodpecker. Using different bits and pieces of nature found in the garden, the students created mini installations. Groups created trains, nests, ants homes and even a ferris wheel! After presenting their creations with their partners, they were asked to sketch out their favourite objects. It was a wonderful extension of celebrating Earth Day last week. I look forward to taking the children outside whenever I can for the balance of the year.
