How Do You Get to Narnia?

The Grade 2/3 class had the best time reading The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe in their third term Novel Study. They were also looking at Mapping in their Social and Cultural Studies so Emily and Jordan used the opportunity to create a really fun culminating activity for both units. The children were charged with the task of creating their own maps of Narnia, using cardinal directions, a legend and a key. I’m sure you’ve already seen them at home! The kids were so proud of their work. (Marie and I had several visits from the children as they worked on them.) Emily and Jordan wanted the children to experience using a map in a real-life situation so they created a map of Leaside Field to guide the Grade 2/3s to buried treasure. You can see from the photos how much they enjoyed it. If you have any road trips planned for this summer, make sure to put your map reader to work!
