A Beautiful Musical Guest

The Grade 1 class was fortunate enough to have a very special guest visit our room this week. Max’s Mom Hong arranged for her friend Dora to put on a musical performance in honour of Chinese New Year. Dora had a variety of Chinese flutes to play including the bamboo flute, hulusi and ocarina. The children were mesmerized by her beautiful music and showed their appreciation with their incredibly thoughtful comments afterwards. Hong also prepared homemade Bao (steamed Chinese buns with red bean paste or veggie/meat filling) for the children and teachers to feast on. It was such a lovely morning and we are so grateful to Hong for arranging this Chinese New Year experience. 2019 is the Year of the Pig, the 12th animal in the Chinese zodiac. Kung Hei Fat Choy!
