A CGS Sea of Blue for House Games!

In the spirit of the NHL Playoffs, Aprils CGS House Games were Hockey Playoff centered! To celebrate our home team, The Toronto Maple Leafs, all the students were invited to wear Toronto Sports Blue, whether that be their favourite Leafs or Blue Jays jerseys and paraphernalia. It truly was remarkable to see so much team and community spirit flowing through our students, teachers and parents in a CGS sea of blue!

Our student house teams took part in 2 different challenges for this month’s House Games through our very own CGS Hockey Playoffs inspired activities. Within each house all the students designed and created their own hockey mini sticks and played in a mini hockey playoff tournament. They were to express their team spirit through decorating their own mini sticks however their hearts desired. Some were dedicated to “bleeding their team colours” as their mini stick design inspiration, and some skated outside the “penalty box” expressing their favourite colours, animations, and of course sports teams!!

In the gym 2 houses challenged each other to a puck shot race! Each team worked together, passing the pucks back and forth up the floor to shoot on the net! Students demonstrated united teamwork skills, worked in partners passing the pucks and showed so much sportsmanship for their teammates, and also their opponents. We loved seeing our sea of blue students cheering on each other!

A special message was shared from one of our resident JK teacher, “The energy and team spirit was really high during the CGS playoffs! It was some of the best hockey playing I have ever seen”, Sara A, Leafs fan extraordinaire.
