The JK’s and SK’s and their parent volunteers had a fantastic time at Black Creek Pioneer Village last Friday. The weather was cold and clear and it felt just like Pioneer times! Pioneer Jennifer and Miriam were wonderful guides. The children visited and learned all about the blacksmith, the mercantile, the schoolhouse and the home of the original owners of the property.
Highlights included dressing up in period costumes, playing old fashioned games like the Hoop Race, making Christmas ornaments, eating candied lemon peel and participating in an interactive story. (Pioneers didn’t have television so storytelling was a huge part of their entertainment!) Thank you to our parent volunteers for joining us on this festive and fun field trip.
