Asian Heritage Month and Mother’s Day

Junior Kindergarten

Our JK class is getting ready to celebrate Mother’s Day! The students are learning about all the many kinds of Mothers and what makes them so special. They are writing a special poem for their Mother and making some beautiful portraits. Even the JK teacher, Sara A., showed off a beautiful drawing of her own Mother!

SK Mother’s Day Scavenger Hunt

One of our SK students has shared a great activity to do this weekend.
– schedule a group walk with family or friends
– during the walk, take pictures of interesting things you find
– when you get home, look up the things you found, discover what it is or, if you already know what it is, some new information about it
– draw a picture of each thing you find and label it

Grade 2

As part of Asian Heritage Month at CGS, art teacher Carrie is helping our students create beautiful pieces inspired by Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. Influenced by Kusama’s environmental works, our Grade 2 class made these gorgeous jelly fish pieces using pastels and watercolour.

Early Start

One of our Early Start groups is learning all about Japan as part of Asian Heritage Month. They made these beautiful cherry trees full of blossoms after learning about how significant the cherry blossoms are in Japanese culture.
