CGS Highlights

Junior Kindergarten: Courageous!

The JK’s created beautiful birds along with a nest using watercolour, pastels and paper pieces. The CGS character trait for the month of May is ‘Courageous’. The JK nests were made to help reinforce the importance of having courage to take risks – like a baby bird taking flight! The students discussed things that might be scary or difficult for them and what they could do to boost their courage despite their fears. Meesh and Sara talked with the class about determination, perseverance and courage. They listened to the song ‘Try Everything’ by Shakira and focused especially on the line ‘birds don’t just fly, they fall down and get up’. The students pretended to be birds flying for the first time, falling but getting back up and trying again!

Early Start: Ripley’s Aquarium

Our Early Start classes had an exciting virtual field trip to the Ripley’s Aquarium! The students learned about fish habits, what they eat, and how we can take care of our oceans.

Bollywood Dance Party

All of our classes took part in a virtual Bollywood Dance workshop hosted by Alanna at Playocity. They learned some of the basic moves that are associated with Bollywood dance and then they got moving. They had so much fun pretending to throw sprinkles on a cake and make the shape of peacock feathers with their arms – not to mention dancing to some wonderful music! Many thanks to Alanna at Playocity for making the workshop so dynamic and fun for our students!
