CGS PA Starts the Year

Thank you to everyone who attended the first PA Meeting of the year. It was a fun and productive meeting as usual! There are already so many plans underway for the school year. Watch for our upcoming PA events ~ The Terry Fox Walk, the Scholastic Book Fair and Fall Family Fun Night in October. Thank you to everyone for filling out your Volunteer Forms. Many hands make light work and we appreciate everyone pitching in to make our CGS PA events run smoothly. Many events and jobs are accounted for but we are still looking out for two more volunteers to assist with two of our important fall campaigns. Please see below for details.

Looking for a Bookworm!

If you can’t give your time to something ongoing but you can give to something short and sweet, this event is for you! This is not a massive time commitment and responsibilities include:

Assisting with set up of the book fair (1-2 hours) with Zandée in the gym
Emailing parents to book a few volunteers to assist you. (We will provide the volunteer list to you.)
Being onsite to manage book sales on Oct 22 &23, before and after school.
Here is the good news – the books are all ordered, the Interac/Debit machine comes with the book sale, the school supplies and the cash float. All the heavy lifting has been DONE! Here is the BEST NEWS – your child can be in After Care and Before Care for FREE while you are supporting the school and meeting many parents from the CGS community!

Do you like caffeine?

Almost all CGS parents COUNT on their caffeine to be waiting for them at the school before assemblies! But we need YOUR help in order for the coffee to be there!
The Assembly coffee nets approximately $650 dollar for us each year which we use to support events for the children. This is not a time intensive volunteer position and is a great option for someone who will be coming to Assemblies and can come to school a bit early only 7 times this year. We are looking for 1-2 people to support this caffeine initiative.
Responsibilities include:
Communicating with coffee supplier to ensure that coffee will be ready for pick up on Assembly days at approx 7:45am.
Picking up the coffee boxes and supplies from vendor
Setting up the table in the foyer
Grabbing the donation box from the office
Cleaning up after the Assembly/ returning cash to office. (Kelly is often there to help with the carrying.)
Perks include:
Capturing an amazing parking spot since you are at school early
Obtaining a great seat for assembly due to your early arrival
Socializing with the CGS community as they arrive
Being the HERO for all under-caffeinated adults
Please contact Devon, PA Chair, if you’re interested in either of these choice jobs! Thank you in advance for your consideration.
