Committed to Reading

After using the Remediation Plus program for 16 years as the main method for teaching phonics at CGS (for students JK and up), Marie has decided to invest further in the program. Jordan and Paula have been chosen to receive the training necessary to qualify them as clinicians in in-depth reading assessment and remediation. They have been in intensive training with Jo-Anne Gross, Founder of Remediation Plus this week. It has been lovely to have Jo-Anne in the school as her program is such an integral part of what we do here at CGS. The training Jordan and Paula are receiving is above and beyond what is required to address the needs of most children as they learn to read. It is designed to help those children that need more support and time to become competent readers.

Children’s Garden School has decided to invest further in a Remediation Plus reading clinic and certify 2 reading specialist practitioners to best serve the 1 in 5 children that might struggle to learn to read. Research has shown that struggling to learn to read is due to the phonological deficit and that intervention based on Orton Gillingham methodology and phonemic awareness training are the Caviar of all reading interventions and based on the cutting edge research. Children’s Garden school and Marie Bates are committed to the children they serve and to making sure every child leaves the school ready “read to learn”.
