COVID-19 RESPONSE

CGS has been highly successful at keeping our school community safe during the pandemic. The measures listed below have all ensured a healthy learning and working environment for staff and students. Our goal is to keep our students in school, connected and happy. In the event we are directed by the Government of Ontario to close the school, our CGS Spirit at Home remote learning program takes effect within 24 hours.

HEALTH SCREENING

Daily wellness screenings will be completed before entering the building. Self screenings are expected for visitors, staff and students.

FACE MASKS

CGS is a 'mask-friendly' environment. Face masks are voluntary for visitors, staff and students. Staff and student mask wearing is not mandatory and should be determined by the individual or family.

FACILITIES CLEANING & SANITIZING

Dedicated cleaning staff are on duty every day, all day, to ensure that high touch surfaces and bathrooms are cleaned frequently throughout the day.

Routine disinfecting of the playground and indoor spaces is done with an electrostatic sprayer (Victory VP200ES). The electrostatic charge ensures that all surfaces are coated evenly and thoroughly with a Health Canada recommended disinfectant.

HAND HYGIENE

Students and staff have been trained in proper handwashing techniques. Frequent hand washing is mandatory.

AIR QUALITY

All classrooms are equipped with commercial grade HEPA air filters.

VISITORS TO THE SCHOOL

Parents are currently permitted in the school building by invitation. Any non-parent visitors are required to complete our daily wellness screening.

REMOTE LEARNING

All staff is equipped with the necessary tools to teach effectively from home if a quick pivot to remote learning is required. All Grade 1-4 students will have a dedicated iPad.

All measures are in accordance with, or exceed, TPH and Provincial guidelines
