Good Enough To Eat

Our CGS artists were inspired by pop art this month! Pop Art is a fun style of art based on simple, bold images of everyday items, such as cupcakes and food painted in bright colors.

The JK and SK classes were shown images by artist Wayne Thiebaud, who famously painted desserts like pies, ice cream, and cupcakes. The JK and SK classes learned how to draw cupcakes and then painted them in bright colours. Our Grade 2/3 class took inspiration from a famous pop art sculptor, Claes Oldenburg, and created these 3D donuts out of papier-mâché. Who knew such yummy desserts could become works of art!? These donuts and cupcakes are adorable. I’m getting hungry just looking at them!
