Gorgeous Galaxies
This month the children in Grades 1-3 painted their own imaginary galaxies. The pieces were inspired by artist Wenzil Hablik and his painting called “Starry Sky. Attempt”. He called it ‘attempt’ as he could only imagine how to capture the wonders beyond our galaxy. It’s a breathtaking painting that I had the privilege of seeing in person at the AGO a few years ago. The children did an excellent job of using their imagination to create their own magical universes.
They learned a lot about art as a process as it took several classes to complete their masterpieces. After all, galaxies were not created in a day! The children learned how to apply layers on their paintings to create all the beautiful stars, nebulas, and planets. They also added some mysterious black holes in their paintings. The results are stunning!
