Hockey Day in Canada
The CGS Hockey Day teams were posted on Monday this week. By the time the tournament rolled around on Wednesday afternoon, the players were extremely excited to get on the ‘ice’. Everyone at school was sporting their hockey jerseys and this really added to the occasion. This year we had five teams – the Leafs, Canadiens, Golden Knights, Blackhawks and the Canucks. The tournament followed a round robin format, to ensure everyone got equal playing time. The games were fast and furious, with each game lasting just five minutes. The sportsmanship and effort was really something to behold. At the end of each game, both teams high fived and congratulated each other. It was clear that winning wasn’t the most important thing on the players’ minds. All the games were close and there was a three-way tie for second place! Congratulations to the overall winners, the Chicago Blackhawks, and to the other runner-up teams. Congratulations to our award recipients for the first goal, the best save and exemplary sportsmanship too. Well done, guys. What a great CGS Hockey Day we had!
Happy hockey playing,
