Holiday Outreach Event

CGS had such an amazing Holiday Outreach event this year! With a record number of students in attendance our families overwhelmed us with donations of almost 200 pajamas, slippers and bathrobes for the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto.

Our students enjoyed decorating gingerbread cookies and houses, making holiday themed art, a virtual holiday dance party, pizza dinner and an ‘Elf on the Shelf Movie’. An important part of this event was the Gratitude Circle where students discussed just how their gifts will make a difference to the children receiving them.

A special thanks to our dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to make this event a success. Liz and Paula did the shopping for the gingerbread cookies, houses, and decorations. Angela, Clara, and Paula did the reindeer craft prep for 104 participating students (totaling up to 1034 pieces) and Angela sourced more red noses than are in the North Pole. Liz did all the photocopying for the word searches and colouring sheets for each class cohort. Taylor and the Grade 3&4 class organized the virtual holiday dance party. Sara A sourced the tablecloths for the Pajama display so parents could see how much this philanthropic event has garnered. Tony, Simon, Angela and Paula put up the tree for the display. Zandée coordinated the pizza dinner and kept track of the participants and donations. Last, but certainly not least, Marie introduced the Reindeer Games theme and provided the pizza, the gingerbread, and all decorations. All our teachers hosted their cohorts throughout the event.  When they say, “It takes a Village”, CGS certainly comes together!
