Introducing Anah and Clare in Early Start!

Hello! Bonjour!

My name is Anah and I am a bilingual Early Childhood Educator from Montreal, QC. I have received my Bachelor’s of Arts in Child Studies and Development from Concordia University and have specialized in Children with Exceptionalities. Since 2014, I have been working as a volunteer and educator in an inclusive setting. I had the pleasure of working with children between the ages of 18 months and 6 years that are both typically developing and special needs. As my philosophy is child-centered, I strongly believe in balancing routine and transition times, while strengthening skills and abilities through a diverse set of hands-on activities and experiences. I enjoy incorporating a few of my passions in the curriculum as well, including dance, language, science and art. I am thrilled to be joining the CGS family and I am looking forward to assisting the children to build new skills and face new challenges.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Clare Turko and I’m so happy to have joined the Early Start Team at CGS. I grew up in North York and went to Brock University for Concurrent Education in the primary/junior stream. I am a certified OCT teacher as well as an RECE. While completing my placements, I quickly discovered a passion for working with younger children. Nothing is more rewarding to me than helping a child reach a new milestone and see that “aha” light bulb go off in their head! Another of my passions is travelling, I love meeting new people and experiencing different cultures and places. A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to spend ten months combining my passion of travel and working with children teaching English in Italy. It’s an experience that I will never forget and I took away many lessons and ideas that I am able to implement in the classroom here in Toronto.

My teaching philosophy is one size does not fit all. I believe that there is value in incorporating aspects and ideas from a diverse range of philosophies and tailoring those philosophies for each individual child and group. Getting to know every child and developing that rapport and relationship is so important to determine how and what they require to learn. I believe in nurturing the child as a whole by exposing them to a variety of subjects and learning methods. I hope to provide children with the tools they need to foster problem solving skills, autonomy and confidence. Above all, my goal is to cultivate an inclusive and creative learning environment where each child feels they belong and are able to thrive and showcase their strengths.

Thank you to the staff and parents of the CGS community for being so welcoming. I am honoured to work with your children and look forward to helping them grow to their fullest potential. Already new friendships are forming and I expect it will be a wonderful year!
