Lauren Harris and Monet Start the Year

Hello Everyone,

My name is Carrie Laureola and I am thrilled to be the new Visual Arts teacher at Children’s Garden School. For the past five years, I have been the owner and principal art teacher of Bamboobay Arts School. Throughout my career at Bamboobay, I have gotten to know so many talented students some of which study right here at CGS!

Art has been a part of my life for as far back as I remember. As a child, I was always drawing, painting and creating. These passions were nurtured right in this neighbourhood with the support of my parents and teachers. As a former student of Bessborough Public School and Leaside High School I went on to earn my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Waterloo. I am honoured to be teaching art in the same community that helped raise me. I am also a proud mom of a seven year old who loves art as much as I do.

The amazing students, parents and teachers at CGS have made me feel so welcome during my first week.
Art allows a child to connect with others, see beauty, and enjoy the process as much as the result. I look forward to getting to know everyone and nurturing a new generation’s lifelong love of the arts.

The children focussed on Lauren Harris and Monet this week. They did wonderful work. Please check out the art boards downstairs (just outside of the gym) to see their vibrant images up close and personal!
