This week in Gym class the CGS students went on an outdoor adventure in the woods! The background story: You have lost your way in the woods and the only way to get back to camp is to climb a mountain, cross a river, jump over some logs and do a throwing challenge (to gather food)! The challenges incorporated gross motor skills like running, jumping, throwing, and balance exercises. I call these fun exercises, “exercise in disguise”, as the students are having so much fun they forget they’re exercising! It was great to see everyone involved and engaged throughout the adventure. We only moved onto the next leg of the adventure when everyone finished the challenge, to incorporate the team aspect. I can’t believe there is only one more week of Gym class for the year!
