Mental Health and Wellness Day
Mental Health and Wellness Day
CGS had our Mental Health and Wellness Day this week. We have one of these special days each term to help us to prioritize our mental health and wellness. This was a chance for us to all pause and reflect on how we can best care for ourselves and those around us. For the day, we took our focus away from academic work and directed our learning towards the things that help us feel our best. Each class recognized this day in their own way.
The Early Start class did a number of wellness promoting activities including yoga, meditation, and Play Doh. Students also created a “jar of self love” where they glued affirmations onto their “jar” to remind them of all of the great things about themselves.
JK did some relaxing art activities and wrote kindness notes to important people in their lives. They reflected on how these people make their lives better and why they appreciate them.
SK made sensory jars to help calm their minds when they need a quiet moment. Students filled their jars with a bit of water, glue, sparkles, and some little beads to move through the liquid. Not only are the jars useful for when the students want a bit of a break, but making them was a really nice group activity. The students all sat together and were such lovely helpers to each other.
