Move Over Picasso

This past month, the students in Grade 4 learned about the famous Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso, and his cubism portraits. We learned to divide up the face into geometric shapes that did not have to be perfect or realistic. The students also divided the face into warm and cool colours. This was an especially fun end-of-year project as we used all the elements of art and the techniques that we’ve learned throughout the year to create the portraits. The Grade 4’s used their imagination to add interesting objects that represent different sides to their personalities – cogs, a lightbulb, a horn, wild hair and an eye patch, to name a few. I love how unique they all turned out. Great job Grade 4’s!
