On Monday morning, the Grade 2 and 3 classes visited The Gardiner Museum. We toured the building and learned about the history of pottery and porcelain. The students were informed about different types of clay and how artists use clay to create sculptures with different forms and textures. The students then had an opportunity to create their own clay dragons. We chose dragons because the students have an interest in this theme, and also because there is an extensive artistic history of potters creating dragons using ceramics. Our pieces are currently being fired in the kiln! We’re looking forward to seeing how they turn out next week.
