PRIDE at CGS

Students were greeted by a wonderful Pride display when they arrived at school this morning

Early Start

Our Early Start classes learned about all types of families. They read the story ‘Daddy, Papa and me’ during their circle time.

Junior Kindergarten

Our JK class made construction paper flags to celebrate Pride day at CGS. Their beautiful flags are so creative and colourful!

Senior Kindergarten

The SK’s learned about the Pride flag, it’s origins and the meaning of each colour. They made their own flag and practiced writing out each colour.

Grade 1

The Grade ones have kicked off our Pride celebrations learning about different types of families and how the rainbow flag came to be made and became the symbol for Pride. The class read the book ‘Pride: The story of Harvey Milk and the Rainbow Flag’ by Rob Sanders and Steve Salerno and made stained glass rainbow hearts that are now hung on the classroom windows to show their support for ‘love is love’!

Grade 2

The Grade 2 class made their own Pride t-shirt using the colours of the Pride flag. They created their own ‘Identity Flag’ and explained why the elements they included are important to them.

Gr 3&4

The Grades 3&4 class made these beautiful handprint rainbow paintings of the pride flag.
