Sticky Ice in SK

The SK’s did a full-on experiment last week for their Solids, Liquids & Gases Science unit. The experiment explored the freezing temperatures of freshwater versus saltwater. The children had all their materials at the ready – water, food colouring, salt, string and ice. (Thank you to the parents at home that were able to assist.) Shout out to C who totally looked the part with her goggles on! Clara walked the children through the steps of an experiment and then it was time to get to work. Can you pick up ice with a piece of string? No way. Add salt? Yes! The ice clumped together and stuck to the string. The children were so thrilled with the results.
