The Big Run
“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift” – Steve Prefontaine- US distance runner
Our annual CGS Cross Country Championships took place on Wednesday at Sherwood Park. It was a cold morning on race day but everyone was in great spirits. There was some nervous energy before the start but everyone was excited to get going. With a large group of parent supporters lining the course, it was time to race! The runners ran two loops around Sherwood Park, making sure they paced themselves in order to finish strong.
First up was the Grade 1 race, where we saw some great racing and close finishes. The Grade 2/3 race was up next and it was another close run race, with all runners giving 100% throughout. The Grade 4 race finished in a photo finish for 1st and 2nd place, a first for the CGS Cross Country championships!
After the race, runners and parents gathered in the CGS gym for the awards ceremony. Congratulations to all of our CGS runners. This year we also added some new awards to honour courage and sportsmanship. Well done, guys. A special thank you to the Chandarana family as well for supplying the delicious snacks for the runners.
Thank you to all the parents and teachers for giving their time to make this event a great success.
Happy running!
