The Northern Lights Shine

It’s been a busy month for our JK & SK classes; they’ve been creating these gorgeous Northern Lights paintings on canvas. The children were shown pictures of the Northern Lights where they observed the beautiful and vivid greens, pinks and violets. The children learned to paint these coloured lights in the sky using a dry brushing technique with a partially loaded, practically dry brush to paint the streaks. They had a blast using wild brushstrokes to express the movement of light. I love how the colours appear to be dancing against the sky. We finished off the painting with the silhouette of a forest. The children used fan brushes to create their evergreen trees. Great job JK and SK!
