Twosday – The 100th Day of School
February 22, 2022 was a very special day. First, it formed a palindrome: 22022022. Whether read upside down or backwards it looks just the same. Such a date will not come for many years and because it fell on a Tuesday it was termed ‘Twosday’!
Most importantly though, it marked the 100th day of school at CGS for the 2021/2022 school year.
Junior Kindergarten
The Junior Kindergarten class celebrated the 100th day of classes in high style. The theme of the day was ‘Brighter and Smarter’. They had special 100th day light bulb hats. Parents supplied treats of fruit kabobs with each kabob including 10 pieces of fruit. The students also enjoyed Smartfood and Smarties for obvious reasons.
Special bags of 10 mini-marshmallows and special items were a part of the day’s festivities.
Senior Kindergarten
Our SK Class learned all about the 100th day of classes, reflecting on how much they have learned and how far they have come since the beginning of the school year. They made some beautiful crowns to commemorate the occasion.
Grade 1
The Grade 1’s celebrated the 100th day of school and ‘Twosday’ this week! They came dressed up as what they think they would look like if they were 100 years old, and our ‘senior citizens’ did not disappoint. They were challenged to see how many times they could write their name in 100 seconds and what they would buy with $100. They also discussed the significance of ‘Twosday’ and they had to think about all the duos that go together like bread and butter or Buzz and Woody. We talked about dynamic duos and had to share information about their “bestie” and think of equations that had the number 2 in them. It was a busy and fun-filled day!
