Water & Ice

This week in Early Start our little scientists explored water and ice. They made predictions and learned new vocabulary. We talked about water as a liquid and ice as a solid. The children wondered what would happen to water when it was put into the freezer over night. We filled up ice cube trays with water and in the morning we took the trays out and observed what happened to the water. The children held the ice in their hands and observed how it felt and what it looked liked. We talked about what happens to the pond in the winter and summer and discussed what activities can be done in a pond during different seasons. This hands-on activity required inquisitive scientific thinking from our youngest scientists! What a wonderful learning experience we had.
