Welcome Chelsea
Hello everyone, my name is Chelsea Woods and I am so excited to be joining Michelle Menezes in the Grade 1 classroom. I was thrilled to meet the children virtually first last week.
A little bit about me – I grew up in a small town, 10 hours north of Toronto, and have always had an interest in travel. When it came time for me to go to University, I was very lucky to have the opportunity to study in Australia. I received my Bachelor of Business-Marketing as well as my Bachelor of Education from Griffith University in Australia. I received my certification with the Ontario College of Teachers when I returned in 2014. I have done placements in both Grade 1 and Grade 2. Before coming back to teaching full-time though, I took a detour into the world of business where I worked for Ralph Lauren and Canada Goose in brand management and experience. I was also responsible for training and coaching all new hires, a highly transferable skill to the classroom!
My experience in the business world has been invaluable but my first love and passion has always been teaching. In preparation for my return to the classroom, I attended OISE where I completed Math Part 1, to stay up to date with the new Ontario math curriculum, and Special Education Part 1 (Elementary Focus), as I believe more training in this area is crucial for the development and success of students and teachers alike.
I want to thank Marie for giving me this wonderful opportunity at CGS – I am beyond grateful! I’m looking forward to meeting all the students at CGS and their respective parents. Without question, these are unique times, but I couldn’t be more thrilled to embark on this new journey with all of you.
