Welcome to Early Start Dana

Hello! My name is Dana Friedrichsen, and I am the new support staff at Children’s Garden School. I was born and raised in Leaside and know what a wonderful community it is for families. From an early age, I enjoyed helping younger children; through my experiences doing so I knew that education was a field I wanted to be a part of. I have worked with children for over eight years in a variety of settings, and each day is new and exciting. I obtained my degree in Sociology from the University of Western Ontario, where I quickly became fascinated with the sociological development of children. After graduating from Western, I entered George Brown College’s Early Childhood Education program and earned my ECE diploma. During my four placements, I developed a firm belief that all children deserve and need to feel confident in their abilities and in themselves. An early development of confidence and a sense of competency can make such a difference for children as they grow up and move forward in school and in life. As the support staff, you’ll mainly find me assisting in the Early Start room, and you may see me around the school, at events, and supply teaching in the other classrooms. I am thrilled to be here at CGS, and have been welcomed so warmly by the children and the staff. I look forward to meeting you.
