Here at CGS, we use the DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment) program to read with the students. The DRA is a formative reading assessment that allows teachers to observe, record, and evaluate students’ reading performance. A reliable method for measuring accuracy, fluency, and comprehension, the DRA helps teachers determine each student’s reading level, and allow them to plan and instruct accordingly.
The students at CGS will be initially assessed in September/October, again in early 2018, and finally in May. Students will also receive regular reading instruction and practice throughout the school year by their teachers, who will be kept up-to-date on their students’ reading levels to ensure proper instruction is given and that accurately leveled books are readily available.
