The Wizard of OZ

The old adage “the show must go on” couldn’t have been more true this week as our SK to Grade 4 students presented the CGS version of The Wizard of Oz.  With our Stage Manager absent due to a family emergency and then our Director losing her voice after emergency surgery last weekend, it was all hands on deck in order for the show to go ahead as planned.

A yearly Musical Production has been an integral part of the CGS calendar for many years now but COVID restrictions put an abrupt halt to that tradition in 2020. We were so excited to bring this wonderful experience back for our students, so the glitches surrounding our organizing staff wasn’t going to stop us.

A big shout out to all of the CGS staff who showed once again that Teamwork makes the Dreamwork. Special thanks to our good friend Danelle Smith from Arts Express for stepping in to support Naomi and be her “voice” for the Dress Rehearsal as well as the Production itself.  And kudos to our young performers who stepped up to the plate and performed their hearts out for a very appreciative audience. Last, but certainly not least, bless Naomi for literally getting out of her sick bed to make sure that no one was disappointed. She is indeed a consummate professional and we are all so appreciative.

We are happy that this tradition is back at CGS and look forward to another amazing Musical Production next year.
