Zandée’s Community Spirit

As most of you know from the Food Drive at Christmas time, Zandée has been an active volunteer at The St Ann Food Bank in Cabbagetown for 8 years. COVID 19 has definitely affected how things are done at the Food Bank but Zandée wanted to let everyone know that they are still open and serving clients. It is by appointment only now to facilitate social distancing and volunteers wear masks and gloves. Volunteers arrive on Saturday (five at a time) and pre-bag food for all the clients. Clients come in at their allotted times during the week to receive their bags of food. Each order includes a bag of dry goods (canned soups, beans, cereal, crackers, pasta, etc) and a bag of refrigerated items (protein, eggs, yogurt, juice). The boxes you see in the photos are for large families – they receive a double portion of food. The Food Bank continues to serve about 120 people, including at least fifteen families. Thank you to Zandée and her partner Beth for giving of themselves and their time. #cgscommunityspirit
