A Snowy Day in Early Start

A Snowy Day in Early Start

Our Early Start class loved the snow this week! With the exciting weather, our youngest learners used the snowy day as a focus for their learning. The Early Start classes worked very hard on a cross curricular activity this week using the classic book “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats. The children listened to the story during circle and talked about Peter’s journey through a snowy day.

After talking about the story and identifying some important events in the book, the students did a variety of activities based on their reading. They worked on a reading comprehension sheet, did an art project and later worked on a fine motor tracing sheet. This was a full day event with many fun activities. We were impressed by our learners’ interest in the story and their dedication to working on their activities. We frequently connect our learning with what is happening outside of the school and we love it when its fits together so nicely!
