Communities in Grade 1

The Grade 1’s have been learning about different types of Communities and their features during Social Studies class this term. These include Urban, Rural and Suburban Communities. As a grand finale to our unit, each child was assigned a building that they would find in their local community to design using a shoebox. We were absolutely blown away with the amount of creativity and attention to detail that was put into each and every project! The children totally exceeded our expectations with their beautifully unique designs and oral presentation skills. When the presentations were complete, we put all of the buildings together connecting them with roads to build our very own classroom community. We would like to congratulate all of our students for a job extremely well done. We are incredibly proud of you!
