Metrolinx Stops by

We had some very special visitors to the school today. Natalie from Metrolinx and Krista from the contractor building the Eglinton Crosstown came to talk to the JK-Grade 4 students and staff. It was amazing! We learned all about how the construction of the LRT is being managed, how tunnels are built, what it’s like for construction workers working underground and much more. Did you know that the digging of the tunnels goes for 24 hours a day, every day and that it takes 15 minutes to walk the stairs back to the surface if the workers need to go to the bathroom or make a phone call? Thank you so much to Natalie and Krista for creating a presentation so appropriate for the children. The JKs and SKs even played Construction Worker Hokey Pokey! The children asked great questions and we all left feeling inspired about how things are made and how important public transit is. Metrolinx is on target to open for Sept 2021. I know we all look forward to the completion of the project so people can start moving freely along Eglinton again! There are lovely plans to beautify Eglinton and add bike lanes so it will be well worth it in the end.
